“It takes a village”
Volunteering for PAWS is a rewarding and wonderful way to help the homeless animals in Greene County. PAWS is volunteer-based but has a small paid staff that maintains the operating hours of the shelter. There are many other ways to help PAWS.
PetSmart On-site Adoptions
PAWS was selected the adoption partner for the Paragould PetSmart. PAWS cats and kittens are at the location for adoption and volunteers are needed to transport them back and forth as they are rotated at the store. PAWS also needs volunteers to do on-site adoptions at the store with our shelter puppies and dogs. The on-site events are for four hours on Saturday and Sunday. Contact the PAWS Shelter Director at 870-240-0997 for more information on how to get involved!
Fundraising
Any off site fundraising for the PAWS Shelter is always appreciated. Many students have done onsite fundraisers at various local restaurants to raise money for PAWS with a percent of sales night.
Foster Care & Rescue Group Transportation
PAWS relies on “foster parents” who provide careĀ in their homes. Volunteers who have fostered dogs and cats for the PAWS shelter are always in demand and have found it to be a rewarding experience. Foster parents also assist with transportation when animals are placed into outside breed specific or other rescue groups. Please contact the shelter at 870-240-0997 for more information about becoming a foster parent. An application is required to become a foster parent.
Community Service
Any college or high school curricula requiring community service may find opportunities at the PAWS Shelter. A minimum age of 15 is required to volunteer or do community service at the PAWS Shelter.
